Browns Head Lighthouse is located in Vinalhaven, Maine. Established in 1832, it marks the southern side of the entrance to the Fox Island Thoroughfare between Vinalhaven Island and North Haven. Mariners lined up correctly to enter the channel will see a green light, but red means you’re headed for the rocks. The Vinalhaven tide clock can be set to most any semidiurnal local tide, not just Vinalhaven.
